Local Issues: Air & Water Quality - CAFO’sEducate the Public About CAFO’sAugust, 2002 A major goal of Nebraska Sierra Club is to stop the development of new and expanded Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO’s) in our state that are so damaging to our environment and quality of life. Here is how YOU can help educate the public about the CAFO issue. The Sierra Club will have a booth at the Nebraska State Fair in Lincoln August 23 through September 2. The booth will be stocked with literature about CAFO’s plus informative displays produced by the Sierra Club explaining the problems CAFO’s are causing the environment. The Missouri Valley Group has committed to provide volunteers to man the booth during the last three days over Labor Day Weekend. Our booth will be located in the Cervantes Center, which is air-conditioned. Volunteers get free admission to the Fair! To volunteer or for more information, call Mary Green at 402-556-1830 or Marian Hackett 402-553-1453. |
