Omaha Together One Community’s Metro Area Development Committee has been studying the problem of uncontrolled development and sprawl in the Omaha metro area since last summer. Sierra Club is a member of this committee which is co-chaired by Michele Jarzynka from St. Pius Catholic Church and Clyde Anderson with Nebraska Sierra Club.

Now we are ready to share our knowledge with members of our organizations to build a constituency that will support sound development and speak out against projects that aren’t consistent with Omaha’s Master Plan.

The free workshop will be held on Thursday, May 23, 5:30 to 9:00pm at Ada Mead Hall, First United Methodist Church, 69th & Cass. You’ll have a chance to meet city planners from Omaha, Bellevue and Papillion plus representatives from two development companies. Presentations will focus on the need for regional planning, the developers’ perspective, and what we as citizens can do to make a difference. Pizza and drinks will be available.
